The river Vilnelė is only 79.6 km long, of the 2nd category of complexity. And that is something! The spring of the river is in the village of Vindžiūnai, the big near Medininkai. So we have an exceptionally good river in the very centre of Vilnius!
By the way, the name of the river gave the name to our capital.
We offer a kayak deed from the mill damp of Naujoji Vilnia. From hence the river already has full stream and power, but it is not deep, therefore if the kayak overturns, one can safely stand up and turn the kayak in the right position. The Vilnia river is always characteristic of warm water, therefore it is not a problem to get overturned. The watercourse of the river has the first shoals, big stones, the stream is quite quick. Here the Vilnia starts to flow into the deep valley of the Neris river – here the real “touristic attractions” begin. This river is full of other obstacles as well: branches, fallen trees, logs peeping from the water, wills… it gives pleasure to move among them, and one can feel as an auto-racer at the automobile wheel!
While sailing, we get to Pučkoriai. Here we can admire the landscape. Now at the damp of the power plant there is only cascade, and here the most beautiful sailing begins: on the right one can see the forest of Belmontas, on the left – Tuputiškes, the Lower and the Higher Pavilnys. The sill of Vilnia is the highest in the river. Further on the trip along the river continues through cascade shoals, small sills and stones. There are five bridges for those who have automobiles – of the streets Zarasai, Paupio, Užupio, Malūno, Kosčiuškos and two pedestrian bridges. The last kilometer till the river Neris goes through the Old Town of Vilnius, on the left you wee the Church of S. Ann, the mountain of Gediminas Castle, the Castle museum, on the right there are Kalnų park, the valley of Songs. Some of you might want to continue the trip to the White Bridge of pedestrians, so now you will sail along the river Neris. The finish is beyond the White Bridge of pedestrians.
The distance of sailing: 1. the damp of the mill of Naujoji Vilnia – Sereikiškių park (3 hours), 2. Fall of Belmontas – the White Bridge of pedestrians through the Neris (2.5 hours).
You do not have to leave Vilnius, you do not have to hire a rural homestead. You just have to stay in your office till the very end of work hours, and after that get to Sereikiškiai park or at the White Bridge of pedestrians. Here a company is already waiting for you. We will take care of everything. We will take you to the start, put you into a kayak, give you a paddle and let you down the river.
