A 3-days-long tourist trip by canoes and ferries on the River of Merkys.
Friday. If you have never had a chance to be in this region then you must definitely choose a sailing on the River of Merkys! Amazingly beautiful places! We will come to the homestead which is near the shore of the River of Merkys and settle down in two houses on Friday. Up to 28 people can sleep on the beds. A cook will make a delicious food, we will grill in the bathhouse and tub on the shore of the River of Merkys.
Saturday. A cup of coffee and canoes together with ferries on the shore will say good morning to you. You will get a lot of impressions which will remain in your memory for a long time. We will start going by bus to the upper reaches of the River of Merkys, then we will sail 18 km where we will find two big banks on the way there. We will be able to stop for lunch in any nice place because you can find many of them over there… A cook can come and make a buckwheat porridge with the Grill sausages for lunch or you can make it yourself. We will continue our trip after the lunch again and come back to the homestead. Then we will wash our tiredness in a hot bathhouse or tub after a satisfying dinner.
Sunday. Breakfast. You will find your chosen food on a table when you wake up. Today we will start down from the homestead. A sailing will be a pleasant one – we will all reach Milioniškės by canoes or ferries in 3.5 hours. If the sailing does not seem too long for you, you can keep sailing till Mardasavas. We will come to take you from there. Merkys is a rapid and picturesque river flowing through the national park of Dzūkija. Its total length is 189 km. The biggest river of Dzūkija flows into the River of Nemunas beside Merkinė. We will have a chance to stop in Perloja where you will be able to see a huge monument with Vytautas the Great. After all this we will come back to the homestead, eat, pack the things and go back home.
!This year “Vandens turistai” (“Water tourists”) will offer you the new “Raft” ferries, the new polyethylene two-seater canoes “Vista” made by an English concern “Perception” which are more comfortable, the new two-seater canoes “Brio” with a baby-seat made by a French concern “RTM”, the new paddles and the new comfortable German waistcoats “Marinepool”.
!In order your extra clothes and things remain dry after the journey we will offer you the 50-litres hermetic bags and the 24-litres hermetic plastic contents made by a concern “RTM”.
!The new menu is made where you will be able to choose five hot meals which will be served for you during the whole weekend’s trip. If you are interested in it you will be able to get the menu by e-mail.
The water tourists will give you your adventures recorded in the CD after the journey before going home. You will look much better with the new inventory in the pictures this year!
Up to 40 people can sleep in the homestead.
